They quieted not effective my 103" The boards III including 10:1 compression a modest cut, which got actually loud compared to the first 96". I'm by them on Sideshots, not Shortshots. I noticed a tiny potential failure as installing these in the top aim keep pro if you drill a fissure not effective the midpoint in this vicinity the mass of a doodle, including the intention of potential frequently comes in trade (seat of pants dyno) and the dirt bike stays only as calm down. Drill/adjust at your confess expose! These baffles frequently cut-rate the idle arrange/rub signal and barely audible the by and large signal as if you deposit your hand in adjoin, keep pro not on, your lips as discussion (be fond of as you be inflicted including provisions in your backtalk). I was in tension pro quieter keep pro I'm not guaranteed you'll do greatly better including the QQ baffles including the intention of are far away extra high-priced. And, no problem, they are a nightmare to bed in. If you exchange the colorless filling clarification including metal engage wrap cloth (no matter what including the intention of is technically called) the baffles are easier to bed in and are a cut quieter (so I pocket reflect it over of). You can get on to it at the hardware pile (it's bleak, not colorless).

These Quiet Baffles arre the perfect middle ground for your Vance & Hines exhaust. They will ensure that the neighbors 2 blocks away don't tremble when you go to work in the morning, but you can definately hear your engine over some hot Mustang nest to you. Can't really tell about power, because louder usually sounds more powerful, and I put the on a pretty qick bike anyway. I can tell that between the exhaust themselves, and the baffles, I do get noticeably better gas milage. Overall, I'm glad I got them.

I ordered one of these, thinking it would be a set of two, since the picture shows two and every other picture shows two pipes. My mistake. Once I got the second one, and installed them. Which by the way they are a pain in the neck to install. And if your pipes are already installed, even worse. You have to take your pipes back off, take the heats shields off, then pull the stock baffles out, and push these in. Its really not that fun of a job, but realistically didn't take me that long to do. Three hours later, took the pipes off, had the quiet baffles in and put the pipes back on. Once in, they do exactly what I needed them to do. Tone down the rasp on the idle end of the RPM range. My neighbors weren't to fond of the crazy loud idle. Anyway... My two cents.

I got the Baffels pretty quick and installed them and they are calm down. The sound is deeper then the orig ones keep for here is a modest chime at the aim. I will keep useing them as I aspire to go calm down keep for I also be fond of the ones including the intention of came including the Fleeting shots.

Anyone who tells you that there is not much of a noticeable sound difference between these baffles and stock is a moron. Especially the know-it-alls who seem to think that a less restrictive short pipe on an 883 increases hp/torque. Of course anyone who has 'upgraded' from stock to the short shots (not side shots) has compromised their hp and torque respectively (ie: no power chamber on short shots staggered), these baffles help create back pressure which helps regain some of that lost torque (which I have definitely noticed). With the stock baffles, my ears were ringing on 30min+ rides at hwy speeds with 30spf ear plugs and a bell custom 500 helmet. I'll be honest, lows don't hit has hard in the chest as they did before (at idle), but I'm sure that will change after I put on some miles. WOT still sounds as mean as ever, just not with as much of the high pitch crackling as before. Wouldn't recommend these baffles to anyone who uses the bike as a bar hopper or for short jaunts around town. I miss setting off car alarms from 50 yards away, lol. However, being able to hear my sons first words a few months from now will totally make up for that. Agree with previous poster who stated that these should have been included initially. Big improvement.

Baffles make such a little dif in the sound they are a waste of money. See my review on short shots.

Click one of these links to see MANY MANY people who talk about how shitty vance and hines treats you when you call for help with thier crap product. welds to the heat shields break on ALL MODELS. DO NOT BUY VANCE AND HINES, if it was cheaper, it would be worth it, but its WAY WAY overpriced for something that will break in a year or so, and not be replaced by them! see the email they sent me belwo as well.dear customer,I just heard back from warranty and unfortunately we are not going to be able to replace the shield under warranty. The purchase date is just too far outside of the warranty period (15 months). I did run this by my boss Eddie and he ok'ed for me to offer the shield for a discounted price of $115.00 + freight as opposed to the $152.03. If you would like to get the shield for the $115 just let me know. All of our exhaust systems are warranted against defects in material and/or workmanship for a period of 90 days. This does not cover finishes such as plating, or painted surfaces with discoloration or rust. This warranty shall be limited to the repair or replacement of the system, which may be proven defective under normal use. We will not warranty any system that has been abused, misused, improperly installed, or modified.--Thank you,Steve Darrow |Hi,I bought your Short Shot exhaust system about a year and a half ago (you can find the receipt below). I was on the freeway the other day and heard a noise, looked back to see my front cylinder heat shield from my short shot exhaust system had fallen off. When I pulled over, to my surprise, all the hose clamps were still clamped down good, and all the brackets had broken off at the weld! I have pictures. To me it looked like the welds were bad, or not the correct type of weld for this type of application (high vibration). I called and spoke with Mr. Steve Darrow, and he told me that he cannot replace my heat shield since it was already past the standard 12 month warranty. Despite not being under warranty, I think you guys should replace the heat sheild because it was obviously defective, due to the bad welds. It was suggested to me by Steve, that the reason the heat shield fell off, was due to over tightening the hose clamps. I spoke with a couple other mechanics and engineers whom I work with, and we all came to the conclusion that even if the hose clamp was too tight, it shouldn't have transferred the tension to the welds, and any tension to the welds should withstand normal vibration of a Harley motorcycle. Then he mentioned something about heat having to something to do with them breaking too, so I was really confused by his suggestions and how they were my fault?I installed the pipes myself and I did so correctly. I tightened the hose clamps with a screw driver and a torque wrench to ensure a proper fit. I feel like i should not have been blamed for this in the first place, and I also feel like your customer service should have a better understanding of how your products work, and why they would break. I certainly do not think that blaming the customer is the correct course of action, even if you cannot do anything to rectify the situation. I would think with your reputation on the line, a single heat shield might be worth saving that. Regardless i will pass along my story to all my bike friends. currently I have a pile of scrap metal that is useless. the pipes look like hell with out the heat shields, and the heat shields were made so poorly they didn't even last 2 thousand miles. It really is pretty pathetic.[...]

I was a little hesitant to buy these baffles because so many of the reviews said they don't lower the noise that much and they were difficult to install. That may be the case with other pipes, but I have the V&H Sideshots. Installation was as simple as removing the heat shields, loosening the set screw and removing the original baffles, then reverse for installation. Took about 45 minutes at most. The "quiet" baffles don't quiet it down to stock quiet, but do reduce the sound from a higher pingy metallic exhaust note to a much lower one. I still wear earplugs most of the time, but its a much more pleasant sound.

I bought these baffles for my Short Shots that are on my HD Iron 883.The seller processed and shipped my baffles quick. The baffles came very well packaged and went into my exhaust with ease.My only complaint is the picture that these are shown. When you order, you need to order two, because even though the picture shows two together, the price is only for one. I'm happy with the price, and happy with the baffles. I just think the picture should be changed.Anyways, my exhaust sounds great, it did before too but it was a little louder than I am used to, and I was very happy.I will definitely try and go through this seller again if and when I need more parts. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience with this seller.
